Poseidon Configuration:
- 4 global-view units, with 8 cameras
- Video coverage of the pool: 100% of the pool
- Computer-aided monitoring: deep-end pool zones
The Poseidon System became operational at the Malkender
pool in December 1999. The drilling of the pool walls was completed
without draining the pool. The electrical work and the final installation
work were done without interrupting the pool's activities.
This
System should become mandatory,
declared a spokesperson for the NVZ (Dutch Association of Pool
Personnel) to one of the major Dutch dailies following a drowning
accident that occurred in January 2001 in a public swimming pool.
The same newspaper wrote: The
VVD parliamentary group in the Chamber of Deputies believes that
all the pools in the Netherlands should be equipped with an Electronic
Underwater Monitoring System that sounds the alarm as soon as someone
risks drowning.
